J'ai posé les questions suivantes sur un autre site mais j'ai l'impression que vous n'y allez plus vraiment alors je les repose ici si vous permettez.

II/ Que pensez-vous de mes phrases ci-dessous, SVP?

1) The oberservers say that
a) the campaign waged / the battle engaged in Darfur was illegitimate.
b) it was not right to conduct bombing campaigns against civilian targets in Darfur.

2) After the rebels had attacked innocent civilians, prevented humanitarian militants (?) from assisting the victims, and hampered UN forces / peacekeepers from protecting the region and monitoring the ceasefire, the Sudanese government conducted a military operation / intervention to defend the villagers from those bandits / brigands and ensure the smooth progress (?? = le bon déroulement) of international aid and rescue operations.
[Je sais, c'est très long!]

3) The government is using (?) the attack / assail of the rebels as a pretext for terrorizing / dissuading (= en faire payer le prix) the towns that tend to back the rebels / dissidents (?).

4) Quels autres verbes puis-je utiliser à la place de "terrorize" ici ?
The government wants to terrorize / terrify / ?? the local tribes who support / back the dissidents.

5) Qu'est-ce qu'il faut dire :
a) governmental forces OU
b) government forces ?
Quand utilise-t-on "governmental" ou "governement" en tant qu'adjectifs ?

6) Comment définiriez-vous "episodic violence"
a) sporadic fighting
b) episodic / intermittent violence
c) periodic attacks ?

la différence entre "sporadic, episodic, intermittent" et "periodic" est que les 3 premiers adjectifs décrivent un évènement occasionnel qui se passe à intervals irréguliers alors que le 4è ce déroule à intervals réguliers ??

7) Que diriez-vous:
The violence of the gunmen was inhuman / unhumane (?), barbaric / barbarous (?) and immoral / amoral (?).
